This is my first Independent Study for my 2019 photo foundations class.
Artist's statement: This project was a way for me to expand not only my photography skills, but also my Lightroom skills. I wanted to take very basic, color centric photos, which, when edited in post, would be made to look beautiful. And, in my honest opinion, I don't think that I succeeded. I wanted to get photos of random everyday objects, but a single trip to the rose garden made that an unlikely possibility. So, I worked with ten photos that I took that day, and changed the fundamentals of my project. So instead of a random assortment of pictures, it is mostly a project with flowers as the title interest. I believe they still look good in post though.
Artist's statement: For this project, I went with a portfolio of twelve macro shots, which I cut down from 30. My goal for this project was to find interesting angles and views on rather uninteresting things. Examples of such are a guitar, a deck, even of a candle. Macro shots are, in my opinion, the most artistically appealing shots that can be achieved by a DSLR camera. They have a certain composition, and a certain depth to them that is unparalleled, and this is why I chose macro shots as the essential topic of my project. This project was meant as an homage of sorts to the under appreciated and under photographed articles within and around my home. I edited each photo lightly in Lightroom, but in some cases, I edited more than others. The reason I edited was so that each photo would really pop. The edits were also intended to "illuminate" the main topic of each photo. Hope that you enjoy!
