This project, for me, was a way for me to get outside, and find cool images in nature, by utilizing the sun, shadows, and glinting from water. I found a lot of interesting pictures, and I cut down from twenty or so down to the seven that I have here. The intention of my project is to exhibit my natural side. I hoped to show how I view the world, how everything has beauty or symmetry to it, even something as inconspicuous as a Christmas light, or a bookshelf. I hope that with my photos, my viewer will be able to view everyday things in a different way.
BASIC SHOOTING ASSIGNMENT
These are my example for the given types of photos. They go as follows. Image 1 is my example of the rule of thirds, as I utilized my deck colors combined with my house color. The topic of the image is the bug, as the focus determines that that is where your eyes should go. The second image is an example of a macro, as the focus of the photo is on the rocky surface of a short wall. The background is a small section of the University of Washington campus. Picture 3 is an example of a "portrait-don't," which is my dad standing with a fountain shooting out of his head. My fourth image is an example of a horizontal photo, which is the same subject as my vertical photo, that which is the Washington campus at around 9:30 at night, where I used the light reflections off of the water to make a overall nice photo. Photo 5 is my vertical image, which is relatively the same. Photo 6 is my depth of field, where I went to the middle of my street, and put a single red leaf down, then leveled my camera with that leaf. I then zoomed in on the leaf, which contrasted heavily with the background. This caused the lens to automatically focus on the red leaf, leaving everything behind it extremely fuzzy. Photo 7 is my leading lines photo, where I focused on my piano, and had my mom put her finger on the last key. This gave the image a topic, with the keys "leading" to the hand. Photo 8 is my low horizon line, where I put my phone on the ground and then used the reflection on the water to make a unique version of a horizon
Windows and Doors
My intention with this project was to find cool looking windows and doors, and to photograph them in an unorthodox way, in an attempt to show how my worldview is very different than anyone else's, in the sense that, I like to use light and other natural factors to enhance the photo. This utilization allows me to find a natural beauty in almost anything.
